Nearly 700 attendees from 30 countries and 400 companies participated in AABC Europe 2011, from June 6 – 10, in Mainz, Germany. Top battery technologists from the leading European automakers presented updated material regarding the European advanced-vehicle programs and battery requirements, including Audi, BMW,
Daimler, Ford, GM-Opel, Porsche and Volkswagen. Stimulating discussion followed the presentations on the status and prospects of advanced batteries in relation to the needs of the European market. Networking events, which included 60 exhibitors, provided a lively environment for information exchange and business opportunities outside the conference sessions. Mainz offered perfect weather with long hours of sunlight, and many scheduled business dinners in the outdoor dining venues near the Rhine River.
